Coach Dana Leary
Dana Leary graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and earned her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Caldwell University.
Dana’s passion for fitness began on the basketball court. A native of Bridgewater, NJ, Dana attended Immaculata High School, where she played basketball for all four years. Upon graduation, Dana played basketball for Caldwell College, a Division II school, where she was a four-year starter for the Women’s Basketball team. A three-year captain, Dana started at the forward position, scoring 1,049 points in 108 games. She also grabbed 546 rebounds and dished out 209 assists in her career. As a senior, Dana earned all-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference honorable mention as well as a spot on the all-Met second team after averaging 10.3 points and 4.9 rebounds per contest. She also made 51.1 percent of her field goal attempts to rank third in the conference. Her career field goal percentage of 47.3 ranks first in the program’s history.
Dana was a three-time member of the CACC All-Academic Team, which requires a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher. Additionally, she was a member of the student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC) and is also an active member of Psi Chi, National Honor Society in Psychology.
At the conclusion of her college career, Dana joined the Caldwell coaching staff as an assistant coach for three seasons. Dana has over 10 years of experience coaching at various levels, including college, high school and AAU.
Upon graduating with her Masters, Dana decided to pursue her passion for fitness and wellness. Dana has a strong interest and belief in the importance of the psychological side of fitness and health. Dana specializes in female athlete training and fat loss for our female fitness clients.
Dana started a Newell Her’s group at Newell Strength to help empower women towards their transformation. Finally, Dana has most recently received her BioSignature practitioner certification which has armed her with another fantastic tool to help women lose fat.
Coach Sean Harbstreet
Sean won the ‘Newell Strength Apprentice’ last summer, beating out 7 other candidates for a position on the Newell Strength coaching staff. Sean recently received his degree in Exercise Science and Business Management.
Sean entered the fitness field because he felt a strong need to help others overcome their obstacles. Sean suffered a collapsed lung, required surgery and had a long road ahead of him. He decided to hire a personal trainer that put Sean through such a difficult workout in his first session that Sean vomited. Sean vowed on that day to become a Coach and to save as many people as he could from what he experienced during that fateful session.
Mike joined Newell Strength as an apprentice in the winter of 2014 and then as a full time intern in the summer of 2015. Mike was a 4-year collegiate baseball player. Despite a serious back injury that required multiple surgeries, Mike continued to pitch, topping out with a 92-MPH fastball! The only way that someone under 6′ and 200 pounds could possibly throw a ball that fast is through a dedication to training and knowing everything there is to know about sports-performance training. Mike runs our athlete training programs which includes our speed and agility programs, athlete testing and team training.
Coach Johnny Mazuera
John Mazuera is a CPPS Coach (Certified Physical Preparation Specialist) and has been with Kyle since the early days. He is a Detective Sergeant with the Bound Brook Police Department (18 years) and is also a member of the Somerset County SWAT Team (10 years). In the past, he has been very active with coaching football, softball and baseball in Hillsborough.
Coach Chris Giraldi
Chris began as a member of Newell Strength four years ago. Despite being a full time police officer in Hillsborough, Chris expressed his desire many times to get into coaching because of the impact he felt coaching has had on his life. Chris knew he could have the same impact on others, so he persisted until Kyle finally took him serious! Persistence pays off:).
Chris is known as a coach that will push members to new personal bests consistently. Chris’ personality and energy are contagious. The best thing about Coach Chris is that he has completely transformed his physical body but more importantly his mind, which allows him to better coach members in their own personal transformation.
As an aside, Chris possesses freakish ‘farm boy’ strength, ask him to show you his sledge hammer party trick!
