In case you are new here, this is KiMiNs, my alter ego.
You see, I am as kind hearted as a man as you will ever meet, or so I am told.
Thus, I decided a while back that I had to create KiMiNs for situations that called for me to step out of my normal character.
In these types of articles, I, KiMiNs, get to call out the riff-raff that plagues modern health and fitness and many times, I get to highlight the Fake Fitness Experts, which come in different names, shapes and sizes, including but not limited to: Tooly Boy, the Shake Oil Salesman, Keto Guy and then some.
Well, today my little friend, I will introduce you to a new creation of mine: Napoleon SMURF.
Don’t worry about how I came up with the name, just allow my creative powers to go to work.
Why do YOU, specifically, need to be on the lookout for Napoleon SMURF? Because, Napoleon SMURF can and will trick people, which is now easier than ever with c.
But, lest you be duped too, know that I tried to warn you.
With that in mind, the best way to spot something is to have a bulleted list of what it is. No need to memorize this as Napolean SMURF has given me plenty of material to work with for the coming months so I will be sure to remind you.
So, here are a few bullets about Napoleon SMURFs:
Napolean SMURF doesn’t realize that real world experience and expertise can only come with time. I look at it like this, even if one is an ‘old soul’: In your 20’s, you are full of piss and vinegar and have or at least, should have a tremendous amount of energy. In your 20’s, you will and should make tons of mistakes. Lay your foundation here. It’s ok that you don’t know what you don’t know. In your 30’s, you will slow down a bit but you will work smarter and you will begin to refine your skills. Once you approach 40, you will be entering your prime decades as wisdom (real world experience and application) and your physical will be coming to a point.
Napoleon SMURF thinks that school was learning and that they got it all now. Ha! I learned about two things in college as it applies to exercise and fitness. Napoleon SMURFs are more concerned with their social media presence, which lacks substance, than investing in themselves. Yes, I still invest a large chunk of money each year into my own learning and development. I used to travel the country going to seminars, taking sick days from teaching, building my library, studying until the wee hours of the morning and waking up in the wee hours of the day to learn some more.
Napoleon SMURF hasn’t realized that ‘dogs don’t bark at parked cars’. I have people bring such and such persons up to me all the time and I am always amused because I don’t really make any time to think about what other people did as far as gossip. I wish people well, but make no mistake about it, I am focused on my own personal mission to the point of laser-like tunnel vision. Napoleon SMURF hasn’t had the a-ha moment yet that all overnight successes take at least 12 years to happen. Read that again…
Anyhow, Napoleon SMURF is relatively harmless but can be a danger if you follow their lead. Much like Tool Boy, Napoleon SMURF is largely focused on talking about how great they are, rather than actually forming a following through non-focus on actually forming a following.
To want to BE someone else is the worst curse in the world. You cannot be anyone else, other than your own authentic self. More to come on Napoleon SMURFs in the very near future.
