2 Sundays ago, I was hanging with Munchie and Tank outside after a long day at a Halloween festival.
The boys were content, as was I. I had a beer I was sipping on and I was jotting down notes for the week ahead.
I had completely lost track of my positioning because I knew that we had a hive of bees that live inside some hollowed out railroad tracks we have as a retainer wall.
Of course, I decide to stop right in the path of where the bees come and go. And let me tell you, there is one coming and going every second.
I could hear them buzzing by my ear but it still didn’t pull me away from my notebook. But you know what did get my attention?
When one of those little buggers stung me right on my right ear!
My own fault, but boy did that sting. My ear hurt for the next couple of hours!
I was lacking in situational awareness in that moment.
And there’s an argument to be made that situational awareness counts for a whole lot in life.
