The Purpose of a Goal

I can hear you already.

No, this is not the same thing as Monday’s email.

In fact, when I teach goal setting, I make a clear distinction between the goal of a goal and the purpose of a goal.

And this is another one of those things that are so simple that you may feel like it’s beneath you. But if you are wise, you can let this be your guide whenever you are chasing a dream or goal.

So, here it is: the purpose of any goal is to increase your level of happiness.

If the goal is making you less happy, it’s the wrong goal.

Let happiness be your guide and here’s a hint, the destination isn’t what’s going to bring you happiness, it’s the process. The human brain thrives on growth of you as a person.
