Two days ago, I was Lowe’s with Colty and Emma when I ran into a good friend and former Ripped Dad.
He was telling me about how proud he was of his son.
And I know from multiple conversations over the years, my friend is a true Ripped Dad.
He places the utmost importance on his family and in particular his son.
Which sounds like it’s the normal thing to do, but I assure you, it is not.
So many fathers out there don’t respect themselves….
Multiple fathers out there in our communities have been reaching out to see when the next Ripped Dads begins (October).
And these two things got me thinking what being a Ripped Dad is really all about.
I can tell you that it boils down to respect.
Respect for yourself first, as a man and as a father.
This is step #1 and principle number 1.
It’s the thought of realizing that you haven’t been respecting your mind, body or spirit in the way that it should be cherished, that causes men to want to change for the better.
I know as a Dad, the number one thing that must happen for us to be the best family that we can be, is that I have to be respected in the household.
As all humans should be.
But in a family dynamic, there must be love for the children and mother first and respect right behind.
The father has the flip side of this, respect first, followed by love.
It actually talks about this in the Bible as well.
Anyhow, you cannot give what you don’t possess.
You’ve probably heard that said about love before, as you or someone you know was or is probably always searching for love, only to realize (hopefully), that a loving relationship with another will always elude until there is love for the SELF.
The same thing goes for RESPECT.
Respect yourself first, then respect shall be provided to you, from others.
It all starts with you buddy.
Look in the mirror and ask yourself, ‘Do I respect my mind, body and spirit as the awesomeness that they are? The individual that they make me?’
Something to ponder my friend.
