𝑴𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝑴𝒂𝒑: 𝑩𝒖𝒕 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆’𝒔 𝑶𝒃𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒄𝒍𝒆𝒔!
I remember way back to the late winter of 2004.
It was the very first time that I was getting ready for a bodybuilding show.
I had no idea what I was doing, so I hired a Coach.
That gave me comfort, but as in all things, it was a battle in my mind.
I was fresh out of college and coming off of a summer in which I interned for Jay Butler (once again Rutgers Football Strength and Conditioning Coach) and the Rutgers Strength and Conditioning program.
I was beyond disciplined, writing down everything I ate, looking up the nutrients and calorie counts, all by hand.
I would spend my days substitute teaching and most nights and weekends I could be found waiting tables at O’Connors SteakHouse up in Watchung.
Somehow, some way, I still managed to get two training sessions per day, one in the AM and one in the PM.
As I look back upon it and the other ventures I have gone through, I am often amazed at my former self.
I can imagine that my younger self would also look at myself now in amazement which is an interesting thing.
When I was building Newell Strength, the first 5 years and an unreal pace and schedule.
But I was burning with passion and I had an intention within me that God wanted to grow and come to fruition.
I don’t think I could handle that energy load at this point in my life.
IF you had showed me a glass ball of all that would happen in those first 5 years of Newell Strength, I would have probably run for the hills.
Then again, that is my thinking now as a father of 3, husband of Suzy and a man with many different ventures going on.
With those two instances, my bodybuilding shows and the building of Newell Strength, obstacles came up for sure, some otherworldly, but at the time, I didn’t look at them as such.
Once a seed is planted and your heart and mind align, you have no choice but to bring it to fruition.
Sure, there are many people that ignore the yearning, and I can tell you that they live their whole life in regret because of that.
Think about it, they’ve been pregnant their whole life with this seed that is bursting to come out, yet, they caved to obstacles and all the other convenient excuses, which is just another form of an obstacle.
When heart and mind align….
Your heart and mind will find a way around any seeming obstacle that pops up.
Where there is a will there's a way, as it has been said many times.
Obstacles are only there as mile markers to tell you that you are on the correct path.
Most people see them and turn around. Do the opposite, welcome those sign posts with joy, because they are there to nudge you along….
