For at least the past 15 years, I have been doing farmers work and grip work in my weekly workouts.
Farmerโs walks were unheard of at the time, but it wasnโt long before my training buddies were doing them.
We would also have contests of who could hold the heavier dumbbells the longest, all in the name of enhancing our hand and grip strength.
Iโve long talked about my grandfather Leoโs hands, the most muscular hands I have ever seen.
Thatโs what 70 years in the field of being an old Italian stone mason will do to a manโs hands.
Why am I talking about hand strength? Because, it's the entryway to true strength.
Have you ever seen an anatomy chart? The hand (and feet) are intimately tied into the central nervous system. If you can activate and build your hand strength, you unlock magical powers.
By the way, there are also studies that correlate hand strength with reduced mortality, so thatโs pretty cool.
Anyhow, while rummaging through some old buckets at the gym, I came across some grip crushers and through them in my truck.
Now, when I am driving, I get a certain amount of reps with each hand. Imagine that?

Combine that with listening to a great podcast or audiobook and wala; what was once idle time has now turned into a grip training session and learning session.
