Beware the Enemy : Keto Guy


KiMiNs is back, and its been a while.


This time to have a knock down, drag ‘em out match with our common enemy: Keto Guy.


Keto Guy can take many forms. Sometimes it's a fake fitness expert, sometimes its a professional dieter; aka your friend that has tried every diet under the sun.


They will tell you until they are blue in the face that you need to be in ketosis to lose weight. I can tell you unequivocally that this is not true.


Might you lose weight while in ketosis? Sure.


Is it a good state to be in? That depends on how you got to it. I don’t think it’s a good state to be in for too long, because it means that your diet consists of pretty much nothing but fat (no, you will not get into ketosis eating high protein and low carb).


Not that fat is the enemy, but is that really how you picture enjoying your meals and food?


Two summers ago, a few months into my Black Panda program, while I was testing and experimenting, I would measure my ketones.


Even on 3-4 day fasts, I wouldn’t enter ketosis. Hmmmm?


And you bet your hiney that I was able to get lean that summer, almost as lean as I did when I was competing in bodybuilding, with minimal effort and a complete enjoyment of my food.


When most pseudo experts hear about the Panda Diet, they assume that the scope is to get you into ketosis.


The scope is to get one healthy and to reverse any insulin resistance that may be lurking (its most likely lurking). The rest is a trickle down effect from there.


So, the next time Keto Guy starts to lecture you and tries to sell you their keto shake and keto coffee (hahahha), tell him that if you wanted his advice, you would have asked for it.
