One Percent of One Percent Better

25 years ago, we went to the Villanova summer basketball camp.

In fact, we went for 3 years in a row, it was a great camp.

Coach Steve Lappas, the head Coach of the powerhouse at the time, told us one afternoon: ‘Each time you pick up the ball to work on your skills, you are getting a fraction of a percent better. You won’t even notice it at the time. But when you consistently do this, day after day, when you look back, the improvements will be enormous.’

That always stuck with me.

Not just for basketball, but for life.

The sheetrock company was in Newell Strength Hillsborough a few weeks ago to close up the walk through and man, those dudes had the supports in and sheetrock done within 20 minutes.

It was incredible to watch.

I joked with the guy that it would have taken me two days to figure out where to even begin.

He said, ‘Well, when you’ve been doing it 40 years, it’s simple’.

Get one percent of one percent better each and every day.
