The Learning Gap

About 6 weeks ago, I had a pretty severe hamstring tear.


I remember the day it happened as I was hoping Devon wouldn’t notice any limp in my walk. Suzy always gets nervous about me getting hurt when I am partaking in competitive sport.


Anyhow, she noticed. And that night, when I got home from Coaching, the pain was settling in pretty severely. Indeed, it was bad.


Well, I missed about a month of Jiu-Jitsu.


And since I’ve been back for a few weeks now, I notice that my skill set has taken a little jump upwards. I am ‘seeing’ things more now and even getting into the correct positions automatically.


Weird thing is, the last time I was out for a significant amount of time, my skill set took a similar jump to the next rung.


There is something about creating that ‘gap’ that allows the learning process to advance.


Think about it and think about how you can apply this to any skill set you are working on.
