The Worst Lies Are the Ones You Tell Yourself
There have been many times throughout the years when I have caught myself shaving off a rep in the middle of a tough workout.
You know how that goes.
Was I at 8 reps or 9? Heck, let’s make it 9.
But then my conscience eats at me because I know that I possibly took the easier road.
I lied to myself.
When you lie to yourself, you are breaking trust with yourself, which will lead to a life of mediocrity.
Telling yourself that it's somehow good for you to have a donut every night might seem like a harmless white lie, but it’ll only come back to bite you in the end.
Oddly enough, my client and good friend Frank told me this quote and another friend, Frank, who recently started back up at Newell Strength, gave me an old sign that was about the man in the mirror.
When you look into your eyes, it’s you and you. Lying to someone else is not right, but it doesn’t have nearly the devastating impact that lying to yourself has.
Think about it.
