TKD for Colty

A week and a half ago, Colt started up taekwondo with our longtime member, Elise Reed, also a professional UFC fighter.

We wanted Colt to have his own thing separate from Brax.

On the way to class, he was telling me he didn’t want to do it because he didn’t want to fight and didn’t know how to fight.

I explained that they would be learning skills and playing games and fighting would not be happening anytime soon.

That made him feel better.

I could see the nerves melt away as he started having fun.

Adult fitness is the same way, you may have all these preconceived notions about how scary its going to be, how you are going to feel like a fish out of water and on and on.

Find a place that welcomes you and realize that everyone has a starting point. It takes courage to enter a new environment, so count it as a win if you step foot in a new gym.

That’s step number one. Don’t make excuses or wait for all the lights to be green, simply begin by going to the facility or making a phone call.

One win at a time.
