Would You Believe It?
Two weeks ago, I went out for my routine Thursday morning run.
This morning was a little different though.
We had Hurricane Ida, which I spoke of in yesterday’s email, come right through our area and by the middle of the night, we were without power.
I was also turning this run into an assessment to see what happened hyper locally.
Well, once I got to the back end, I made it as far as the main road, and knew that I couldn’t get through. The water was still half way up the stop sign from the river.
As I backtracked, I wound up helping a few citizens, navigate another bridge and was even moving big pieces of blacktop that the river had ripped off the bridge that were laying all of the place.
Heck, I even rode in a lady’s car with her because she was scared to drive over it herself.
Nonetheless, she got to the road she needed to get to, dropped me off and I continued on my run.
Funny enough, not more than a few minutes later, I had a skunk running about 20 feet in front of me. I kept my distance, but I took it as an omen; assess from a distance:).
Memorable run and memorable morning for sure.
