Coach Dana Leary

Dana Leary graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and earned her Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Caldwell University.

Dana’s passion for fitness began on the basketball court. A native of Bridgewater, NJ, Dana attended Immaculata High School, where she played basketball for all four years. Upon graduation, she played basketball for Caldwell College, a Division 2 school, where she was a four-year starter for the Women’s Basketball team. A three-year captain, Dana started at the forward position, scoring 1,049 points in 108 games. She also grabbed 546 rebounds and dished out 209 assists in her career. As a senior, Dana earned all-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference honorable mention as well as a spot on the all-Met second team after averaging 10.3 points and 4.9 rebounds per contest. She also made 51.1 percent of her field goal attempts to rank third in the conference. Her career field goal percentage of 47.3 ranks first in the program’s history.

Dana was a three-time member of the CACC All-Academic Team, a member of the student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC), and an active member of Psi Chi, National Honor Society in Psychology. At the end of her college career, Dana joined the Caldwell coaching staff as an assistant coach for three seasons. Dana has over 10 years of experience coaching at various levels, including college, high school and AAU.

Upon graduating with her Masters, Dana decided to pursue her passion for fitness and wellness. Dana has a strong interest and belief in the importance of the psychological side of fitness and health. Dana specializes in female athlete training and fat loss for our female fitness clients. Dana started a Newell Her’s group at Newell Strength to help empower women towards their transformation. Finally, Dana has most recently received her BioSignature practitioner certification which has armed her with another fantastic tool to help women lose fat.

NSCA Certified Personal Trainer

Certified Physical Preparation Specialist

B.S Physical Education/Global Fitness and Wellness

Mike is a student of Strength. His journey into the Strength and Conditioning world began after suffering a lower back injury in High School. This set back provided room for a comeback - one that involved countless hours of Strength Training to make up for lost time. Mike went on to play college baseball at the Division 1 Junior College and Division 3 Level.

During his last year of school, Mike began shadowing at Newell Strength where he dedicated countless hours to learning from the best coaches around. Upon graduating from Kean University, Mike started his official internship with Newell Strength — in which he eventually earned a full-time Coaching position.

Mike specializes in maximizing human performance — regardless of age. He believes results are best achieved by relentlessly executing the basics on a consistent basis.

Coach Johnny Maz

John Mazuera is a Certified Physical Preparation Specialist (CPPS) Coach and has been with Kyle since the early days. He is a Detective Sergeant with the Bound Brook Police Department (18 years) and is also a member of the Somerset County SWAT Team (10 years). In the past, he was active in coaching football, softball and baseball in Hillsborough.

John has always been very passionate about training and coaching athletes of all ages. He is a graduate of Rutgers University and has always been involved with sports. He is a former Tri-Athlete and body building competitor (4-time Mid Atlantic Natural Body Building Champion). John has taken a brief hiatus from competing to focus on coaching his kids. He will make a triumphant return to competition in a few years when the they are all out of the house!

John has benefitted tremendously from the years of life changing advice that he has received in training, coaching and nutrition as a client of Newell Strength, which gives him a great perspective while working with our current clients. He has a fun and energetic approach to coaching and is proud and honored to be a part of the NS Team. Johnny is known to be one of the best listeners on the planet!

Coach Chris Giraldi

Chris Giraldi began as a member of Newell Strength 4 years ago. Despite being a full-time police officer in Hillsborough, Chris expressed his desire many times to get into coaching because of the impact he felt coaching has had on his life. Chris knew he could have the same impact on others, so he persisted until Kyle finally took him seriously! Persistence pays off.

Chris is known as a coach that will push members to new personal bests consistently. His personality and energy are contagious. The best thing about Chris is that not only has he completely transformed his physical body, but more importantly his mind, which allows him to better coach members in their own personal transformation.

As an aside, Chris possesses freakish ‘farm boy’ strength, ask him to show you his sledge hammer party trick!

Coach Danielle Cruickshank

Danielle was one of 50 applicants that had applied for our last Coaching opening. It says a lot that she was able to beat out people twice her age that had much more ‘experience’. Danielle is a rare bird; a young Coach that is beyond detail oriented.

Danielle continues to compete as a pole-vaulter after competing at the collegiate level for four years

Neva Asinari-Post, Business Administrator

Neva joined Newell Strength as a member back in 2015. When Neva joined as a client, it was apparent that she was a highly focused individual and knew what her goals were, she just wanted some guidance in reaching those goals.

Every month, Neva would request a sit-down session to review her goals, another rare trait that you don’t see in many people.

In July of 2017, Neva had emailed to inquire about a possible business administrator role at the Flemington location. She was beyond qualified and as luck would have it, she didn’t have to wait for Flemington to open. Neva sent an email over the same day that that exact position opened up at the Hillsborough location.

As Steve Knox, über life coach extraordinaire, puts it, ‘She is Kyle on steroids’. The ‘perfect fit’ would be an understatement.

Phylicia ‘Peaches’ Holmes, Operations

Phylicia, aka Peaches, was also a client first at Newell Strength. Peaches played college basketball with Coach Dana.

Peaches decided to join Newell Strength back in 2014 and over time, she offered to begin helping with some of the IT and technology issues we needed help on. Peaches works full-time for Rutgers University.

Peaches is another ‘salt of the Earth’ person, smart as a whip and kind as a person can be.
